MLS LIVE! On-Ramp is a gentle, no-impact class designed for people who want to shuffle — but need a smarter, safer place to start.
This class is perfect if you feel stiff, unsteady, behind, or nervous about impact. Instead of jumping straight into Running Man and Charleston, we focus on building the skills that make shuffle possible: balance, weight transfer, foot confidence, and rhythm.
Over three weeks, you’ll learn how to:
• move your weight safely
• feel grounded and stable on your feet
• find the beat without rushing
• and move with confidence — not fear
 
By the end of On-Ramp, you’ll feel more connected to your body and more ready to decide what’s next — whether that’s moving into Foundations or continuing to build at your own pace.
It's a smarter way to start.

LIVE! On-Ramp is a 3-week preparatory course designed to help you build the strength, balance, rhythm awareness, and confidence needed to succeed in Foundations.

This is not about learning choreography.
It’s about preparing your body and brain to learn shuffle well.

Why On-Ramp Exists

Learning shuffle dance is a progressive process — just like learning anything new.

On-Ramp exists so Foundations feels doable instead of stressful.

 

Foundations assumes a baseline level of:

  • Strength

  • Balance

  • Mobility

  • Rhythm awareness

 

On-Ramp is where we build that baseline — intentionally, safely, and without pressure.

On-Ramp isn’t a detour. It’s how you arrive ready.

 
Who This Course Is For

LIVE! On-Ramp is perfect for you if:

  • You’re brand new to shuffle

  • You’re returning after time off or injury

  • You feel unstable, overwhelmed, or unsure in faster classes

  • You want to build confidence before moving into Foundations

  • You want to understand how shuffle actually works physically

 

This course may not be the right fit if:

  • You’re looking for choreography or fast combinations

  • You’re already comfortable hopping, pivoting, and moving on one leg

  • You’re unwilling to slow down to build a strong foundation

What You’ll Learn

By the end of On-Ramp, you will:

  • Build baseline lower-body strength

  • Improve single-leg balance and weight transfer

  • Develop rhythm awareness under physical load

  • Understand how shuffle works mechanically

  • Know exactly what Foundations will demand — and whether you’re ready

 

This course is designed to reduce frustration, prevent injury, and help you enjoy the learning process instead of fighting it.

How the Course Works

 

Length: 3 weeks
Format: Live online classes (with replay access)
Class Length: 60 minutes each

 

Each class balances:

  • Strength — to support movement

  • Skill — to build safe, efficient mechanics

  • Education — understanding rhythm and tempo, and how skills and music come together

 

You’ll also receive guidance on:

  • How to practice between classes

  • How to set up your space, shoes, and schedule for success

  • How to manage mental overload while learning something new

What We’ll Work On (Week by Week)
Week 1 — Support, Safety & Setup
  • Two-foot jumping and landing mechanics

  • Basic pivots and balance work

  • Gentle strength for ankles, knees, and hips

  • How to set yourself up for successful practice

Week 2 — Control, Commitment & Rhythm
  • Single-leg strength and stabilization

  • Controlled pivots and weight transfer

  • Understanding the beat, off-beat, and counting

  • Learning how to recover when rhythm is lost

Week 3 — Integration & Readiness
  • Repeating movement under light fatigue

  • Intro to foundational shuffle patterns (structure, not speed)

  • Tempo awareness and choosing appropriate music

  • A guided self-assessment to determine readiness for Foundations
