Midlife Shuffle Retreats
Small-group shuffle retreats for dancers ready to build, refine, and grow beyond regular classes.
Step away from the screen and into a full weekend of focused coaching, new combos, personalized feedback, movement, meals, and community —
all inside Shanon’s private Midway, Utah studio.
Whether you’re building beyond Foundations or ready for more complex
choreography and performance-level work, each retreat is designed to
meet you where you are and move you forward.
A New Way to Think About Retreats
Our retreats are no longer “one-and-done” level events.
Each retreat belongs to a larger retreat series, with new themes, new combos, and different content each time — while staying within the same general level of difficulty.
That means you can come back again and again without repeating the same weekend.
You’ll build new skills, revisit familiar foundations in a deeper way, and keep progressing with dancers who are working at a similar level.

Expansion Retreats
For dancers ready to build beyond Foundations.
Expansion Retreats are designed for dancers who have completed Level 1/Foundation work and are ready to add more direction, control, transitions, and combination work.
These retreats are challenging, but still grounded. You’ll work on expanding your movement vocabulary, improving your timing, and building confidence with longer sequences.
Each Expansion Retreat has a different theme, so returning students will continue learning new material.
Best for dancers who are ready to work on:
-
Directional movement
-
Longer combos
-
Cleaner transitions
-
Control and consistency
-
Building confidence beyond basic moves
-
Preparing for future Mastery-level work

Mastery Retreats
For dancers ready for more complex, connected, higher-level work.
Mastery Retreats are designed for dancers who already have a strong foundation and are ready for more advanced combinations, faster transitions, shapes, turns, choreography, musicality, and performance-quality execution.
These weekends move faster. The work is more layered. The expectation is not perfection — but dancers should be ready to learn, adapt, and keep up with complex material.
Each Mastery Retreat has a different theme, so returning dancers can continue developing without repeating the same experience.
Best for dancers who are ready to work on:
-
Complex combos
-
Shapes and turns
-
Faster transitions
-
Choreography retention
-
Performance quality
-
Precision and polish
-
Musicality and style

Not Sure Where You Belong?
That’s normal.
Retreat placement is not about ego, age, or how long you’ve been dancing. It’s about choosing the environment where you’ll be challenged and successful.
Choose an Expansion Retreat if:
You know the foundational moves, but you’re still working on direction changes, transitions, longer combos, timing, stamina, or confidence.
Expansion is the right place if you want to build skill without feeling like you’ve been thrown into the deep end.
Choose a Mastery Retreat if:
You’re comfortable with foundational and directional movement, can pick up combos reasonably well, and are ready for faster-paced, more complex material.
Mastery is the right place if you’re ready to be pushed with choreography, shapes, transitions, and performance-level detail.
Still unsure?
Shanon may recommend a different retreat track based on your current readiness. The goal is always the same: to put you in the room where you’ll grow the most. Book a 30-Minute Online Assessment to review your readiness and goals.
Yes, You Can Come Back
In fact, many dancers do.
Because each retreat has a different theme and different content, repeat attendance is encouraged. You are not “repeating a level.” You are returning to continue building skill, confidence, and depth within the right track.
One Expansion Retreat might focus heavily on directionals and pathways. Another might focus on foundational variations.
One Mastery Retreat might be built around shapes and turns. Another might center on choreography, speed, or performance polish.
Same track. New work. New growth.

The Retreat Experience
These weekends are not giant dance conventions. They are small, personal, focused retreats built for adult dancers who want real coaching and real progress.
You’ll dance a lot. You’ll laugh a lot. You’ll probably hit a moment where your brain says, “Absolutely not.” And then you’ll work through it.
That’s the point.
The retreat environment gives you time to slow down, clean things up, ask questions, get feedback, and experience what happens when you spend an entire weekend immersed in your shuffle journey.
