LIVE Beginner Shuffle Workshop July 2025

Join me for an immersive weekend session designed for beginner shuffle dancers. Over the course of two full days, we will cover: - basic concepts - foundational shuffle and shapes moves - footwork - transitions - combos - freestyle - choreography We will also have sessions on music, tempo, musicality, and developing strength and stamina. Know your level! This will help me plan the workshops to meet the needs of all participants. Level 0: I'm just starting out. I have not yet learned all of the foundational five shuffle moves. My moves are still slow and choppy and I have to concentrate (I have not yet built muscle memory). Level 1: I know the foundational five moves, and I've attempted or learned other moves. The foundational moves are smooth and I am increasing tempo. I am not yet skilled at transitions, combos or choreo. I'm not confident in freestyle. Level 2: I have learned many moves and can put them together in combos up to 8 counts. I'm able to dance for 30 seconds or more at a tempo of 100 bpm. I can freestyle with running man and t-step/rocking. I still struggle with more complicated footwork, spins, glides. I still struggle with choreography longer than 8 counts. Whether you're brand new to shuffle dancing or you have some experience but want to level up your basic skills, this class has you covered! With a workshop size no larger than 20 participants, we will be able to establish subgroups for dancers at similar levels. This is a two day workshop, Saturday and Sunday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 2 hour lunch break. Venue details and travel logistics are provided in the FAQs on the home page.
